Did You Miss The Oscars?

I know, there aren't many people who would be sticking around the TV waiting for the Oscars. If you did miss it, fret not. There will always be someone ready to upload a recording of it on YouTube and sure enough, I found the Oscars 2008 on YouTube this morning. I wonder why some people really have the patience to upload large videos on YouTube even if most times the quality is crappy. Perhaps I am just a highly impatient person!

But if you are a fan of the Annual Academy Awards but missed it last night, you would sit through this even if it gives you a monster headache later.

And here's the Oscars 2008 show split into two parts, and a video of Daniel Day-Lewis accepting his Best Actor award. Check out Johnny Depps' latest look in the video. LOL He was also one of the nominees.

Well, who deserves it better, not that I care. I love 'em all, actually. So, this year, Daniel Day-Lewis bagged this, fine. I remember falling in love with him a long time ago watching a movie called "A Room With A View". Boy, that was an eternity ago. It's amazing to see how far he has come since then and a Best Actor to boot now!

Most Anticipated Movie of 2008: Wanted

Wanted, although not as hotly touted as Rambo or Batman in 2008, seems to be one of the most anticipated movies this year by veteran cinema goers. For one, it stars the stunningly beautiful Angelina Jolie, as an assassin. You can expect this to be an action packed movie. Can Angelina not look beautiful for even one second so that I can feel better about myself?

Interestingly, Wanted also stars James McAvoy as the newbie assassin under the tutelage of Angelina Jolie. If you remember, James McAvoy is the guy who "loves" Penelope, pig nose and all! This guy seems to be everywhere this year!

Wanted is expected to be released in cinemas sometime in June, 2008. Stay tuned!

Movie ~ Penelope [2008]

Whoa, what busy days I had recently that I did not have the time to blog. Not only that, I even had to forego my free movie tickets. How can???

On the other hand, a couple of days ago, I was introduced to a wonderful, funny and heart-warming movie called "Penelope" which will be released on 29th February, 2008. This is a special day with a special movie to mark it.

Penelope, which stars Christina Ricci as Penelope, is about a girl who was born into a rich family, but is cursed with a "pig's nose". All is not lost, however, because this curse could be broken when Penelope finds that one true love. Do you think that it would be easy? Sure, she has a sizeable dowry but money cannot stop the young men from being repulsed by her nose.

So what does Penelope do? Will she continue to stay locked at home hiding from the world because of her nose? If you watch this trailer, you would have a pretty good idea that Penelope found her true self and not her physical self.

But do you think that Penelope will manage to break the family curse and be the beautiful girl that she is? Watch Penelope on 29th February, 2008 to find out.

It is interesting to note that in this movie, Penelope found a best friend, her only friend, in fact, in Reese Witherspoon. And this movie is produced by Reese Witherspoon's production house, Type A Films. That's a little movie trivia for you!

Hong Kong Actresses Involved In Edison Chen Sex Scandal

My friend recently watched Kung Fu Dunk and she said that one of the lines was very funny and she could imagine what a scene it would be if Gillian Chung was in that role.

That got me thinking, what would people's reaction be when they watch movies by any of these three actresses, Gillian, Bobo Chan & Cecilia Cheung, involved in the recent sex scandal of the Hong Kong entertainment scene that rocked the Chinese community the world over?

I read on Batgwa.com [FYI, Batgwa means "busybody"] that there are more than 10,000 people per minute in Hong Kong alone, downloading and sharing these leaked sex photos over the internet. So you can imagine the number of people who have already seen these photos and having wild fantasies about "strange, strange stuff."

In Asian society, I believe that Edison Chen will not get as harsh a backlash as these three actresses, because, he's "a guy". If there are still producers who would take on these ladies for new movies, how will movie-goers look at them?

Can their careers survive?

Update: 10th Feb, 2008:
With new sex photos of Edison Chen released this morning of Edison Chen with Gillian Chung, Cecilia Cheung, Bobo Chan, possibly his current girlfriend, Vincy Yeung and a few other women who are yet unidentified, I now think that not only are the careers of these actresses over, Edison Chen's career as an entertainer in Hong Kong and China is totally bombed too. However, he can move to the Netherlands and be a porn star.

Korean Movie ~ .... ing

My friend, who knows that I love to watch Korean movies and dramas, told me that I just have to watch ...ing. Well, that was like three years ago! So I got myself the movie but I simply had too much things going on that I delayed watching it. Of course, meanwhile, I watched other movies that had more interesting titles, like The Art Of Seduction and Dasepo Naughty Girls.

.... ing is a movie that frankly, after I watched it a couple of months ago, and decided to write a noobie review today, I have forgotten what it was all about. I mean, can you imagine in your mind's eye what "...ing" could mean? I certainly could not match it with any movie that I have watched.

I mean, compared to Men In Black, Batman or even There's Something About Mary, you can associate the title with a story line. But ...ing? My mind drew a blank.

Like I said, my friend told me that I just HAVE TO watch this and so I did, finally. Even though this was a movie released in 2003 while I watched it in 2007, I don't fell like I has missed a great movie. I didn't ask myself, "Aiya! What a great movie! Why didn't I watch this sooner?"

Well, if you read other movie reviews, every other reviewer was saying how great this movie is. I would not say it is great but it was something different. This is a sad movie but it's under the surface. You won't find people [well, there are only THREE principal characters] screaming and shouting with tears rolling down their faces. But it is still sad because the girl has a terminal illness unbeknown to her.

Anyway, the girl Im Soo-Jung as Kang Min-Ah found love in Young-Jae who was played by Kim Rae-Won. I just got to say this. Although many people love Kim Rae-Won, I don't like him at all. I think the first drama I ever watched him in was Attic Cat and his character there was so despicable to me, that he spoilt all the subsequent dramas for me. Well, unless he can change his looks!

Would I recommend this drama? Well, if you love watching Korean melodaramas with a twist [of course there is more to the drama than what I wrote here!] then go for it. I have enclosed a trailer of …ing that I found on YouTube.

Movie ~ Batman: The Dark Knight [2008]

So, Heath Ledger is no longer with us and his fans will he left with his last movie, Batman: The Dark Knight, which is scheduled to be released this July. That is a long time to come and I am sure all fans of Heath Ledger, who is said to produced a stellar performance as The Joker, and fans of Batman, will be on the net searching for as much information and spoilers as possible whilst waiting for the movie to hit the big screen.

Although I am not a big fan or Heath Ledger or batman, I still am looking forward to whatever news I could get about the man and the movie. Critiques said that he outshone Christian Bale as The Joker, so I definitely need to watch that!

I leeched this short video from YouTube, a trailer of Batman: The Dark Knight in high definition. It's so clear; I don't mind watching the WHOLE movie on YouTube LOL
