Nacho Libre movie poster
I can't decide if Jack Black in Nacho Libre is more gross or Martin Lawrence in Big Momma's House 1 & 2, but Big Momma's got clothes on most of the time!
In Nacho Libre, set in Mexico, a friar (Jack Black as Nacho) decides to team up with a street guy to participate in a local wrestling match to win the prize money, so that he can buy better food for the kids in the orphanage where he is the cook.
Not only that, he thought that being a big wrestling star, people will finally show him some respect and he will also win the heart of a newly arrived nun.
Once, Nacho wrote a letter to Sister EncarnaciĆ³n, and it was quite amusing when the camera zoomed in on the letter, and we could see Nacho's childish handwriting with his funny English. He signed off the letter with something like this:
(Example) xoxoXoXXOOxO
Read: kiss, hug, kiss, hug, big kiss, hug, big kiss, big kiss, big hug, big hug, kiss, hug
And being the odd tag team that they are, his skinny partner keeps blaming Nacho for losing because he is too fat.
But even when losing, they were still paid and the first time, Nacho seems surprised. Well, of course the losing side will not get any prize money but they will get a share of the gate takings. I guess Nacho doesn't know. Monastries have a very protected environment.
And even with their almost nil wrestling skills, they decided to turn pro.
Of course, somehow, in the end, Nacho and his partner emerged victorious and managed to win the grand prize of $200, which he used to achieve his dream of buying a school bus for the orphanage so that the children can go out on trips.
How come I don't remember this scene?

Yeah, Nacho Libre's humour is pretty deadpan, kinda like Wes Anderson films, so it's not that similar to most conventional comedies. On the other hand, I find Jack Black's accent pretty damned funny.
Do you remember the scene with all the doves?
Oh yeah, one funny scene was when a fat lady had eyes on the skinny guy.
