Korean Movie ~ To Sir, With Love / My Teacher / Teacher

*To Sir, With Love* movie poster

I don't even know where or how to begin writing this review. This movie has left me STILL shaken. There were a few working titles; Teacher and "My Teacher" but the official title is "To Sir, With Love", although the title is quite misleading, as the teacher is a lady.

How to categorise this movie, except that it's a Korean slasher. VERY bloody, very gory, very dark, EXTREMELY HORRIFYING.

The Cottage

The movie starts with flashbacks to how the then pregnant teacher was a favourite teacher. She subsequently gave birth to a severely deformed son, whom she raised in the basement of her country cottage. Her husband was so traumatised that he committed suicide by hanging himself.

The movie then progresses to how the police were brought in after a gruesome discovery of dead bodies.

Mi-ja & Mrs. Park

Mi-ja, one of her supposedly former student then starts to narrate to the police officer how things were right up until the multiple murders.

It seems that almost two years ago, Mi-ja was homeless, so her former elementary school teacher Mrs. Park, ill and wheel-chair bound, took her in and so Mi-ja became her personal assistant, helping Mrs. Park and doing the housekeeping.

Seeing that Mrs. Park's time is almost up, Mi-ja organises a class reunion of six 20-something former students of Mrs. Park, including Class President Se-ho, Vice-President Eun-young, Super-Pig Soon-hee, Athletic Dar-bong, Handsome Myung-ho and Shy Guy Jung-won.

"Handsome" Myung-ho

As the day wore on, resentment started to kick in when each has rather bitter memories of Mrs. Park who seemingly abused them physically and psychologically, which left emotional scars in them.

Scenes from *To Sir, With Love*

Soon after, one by one, the guests were targeted by a bunny-masked killer. Think blades, think staplers, think spade........

Expect these! *shudder*

Watching the movie, one tends to forget that a good part of the movie was being told by Mi-ja to the police officer. Therefore, the movie was kinda straight-forward but it isn't. There's a big twist in the end.

This movie has lots of gore. It was practically flooded with blood and we could even hear the slish-slosh of blood. Many of the scenes made me cringe in horror or wince in imaginary pain. I nearly threw up my supper too. This movie is definitely only for those with iron guts. Pregnant ladies, stay away.
